A very modern Singapore is going to toe the Nature’s Way, which is the path to keep the city-state green and linking biodiversity areas. Nature’s Way will have four green corridors where animals, birds, and butterflies can move about enriching biodiversity.
Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan joined the residents in planting a Nipis Kulit tree that can attract birds. The plan is to link two rich biodiversity areas, the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and upmarket Botanical Fields area. Three other Nature Ways will be at Admiralty, Tampines, and Yishun. Singapore is expected to have more than 60 km of the green linkages by 2015.
Minister Khaw noted in his blog that the people he met were also passionate about greening Singapore. Singapore’s leaders in general are tweeting to get closer to people and participating in public life. People can now expect to be little closer to nature and their leaders.
